Do non-sniper headshots deal more damage?

In other servers with the AMX Quake sounds enabled, I've noticed that it will occasionally trigger the headshot sound when I get a frag. I can only assume this is because the killing blow hit the head hitbox, but is more damage dealt by hitting the head with say a supershotgun blast compared with a chest shot?
spoofer would know!
Heh... UberTFCgeek time...

I'm pretty sure the only weapon that factors in body-specific damage is the sniper rifle (other than spy backstabs). An instant, uncharged body shot does a base 45 damage, plus an extra 45 damage for every second that the charge is held (increasing steadily between each second), up to a maximum of 7 seconds (totaling 360 damage). Headshots multiply the total damage by 2, while leg shots do half as much damage. (And to be as technically accurate as possible, for whatever reason, after 7 seconds and the head/leg check, the damage caps out at 1 point after the expected maximum, so 721/361/181 for H/B/L shots.)

Legshots also slow a player down by 10% of that class's run speed, up to a maximum of a 60% reduction. Compare to Caltrops which IIRC reduce by 20% for each one walked over up to the same maximum maybe? Tranq is 50% reduction for 15 seconds.

I never play Spy, and I think some people think a head stab does extra damage, but IIRC the only thing that impacts knife damage is whether it detects a backstab or not. The normal stab does 36 damage and factors armor into the equation, while a backstab ignores armor and simply deducts its damage from health (which is why it can often be an instant kill against even heavily-armored classes). IIRC there's two different degrees of backstabs though, one that does 54 damage to health, while a perfect backstab gives 108 (instantly killing any class. well, I suppose if a player is supercharged via a Medic or whatever, they could survive). It's typically distance to the target that determines which backstab damage you get. I seem to recall if you're humping a dude's back, you're more likely to get the gimped 54 damage version. If you had a small distance between yourself and the target, you get the full 108. I think my theory was that there might be two damage hitboxes extending out from the attacking spy's position, and if you're right inside someone's asshole, the furthest hitbox might actually go through and past the target so that you end up missing the full damage? Idk. Either way, it's better to not be inside someone's asshole if you're going for a 1-hit kill. Or better yet, learn the strafe trick that Nookie and other good spies know.
Side stab!
That's the one. Technically still a backstab, but due to hitbox wonkiness, you can still pull it off if you're looking the same direction as the target and knifing to the player's side (not actually aiming at the player's side).

As far as why those plugins even bother to announce headshots (as non-sniper classes), usually they're designed for GoldSrc mods in general rather than just TFC, and TFC tracks limb-specific hits even though for the most part they don't factor into anything.

lol, np. =x
My goodness... Awesome. Was hoping this would send up the Spoofer signal.

So my main takeaway is to avoid being inside someone's asshole. Got it.
Unless you're into that kind of thing, of course....

You know, it's 2021.....
The knowledge of spoofer for things totally irrelevant in 2021 is amazing.

Lol JK. Im sure you retain information in other areas like a sponge.

Work related memories just consume my brain.

True enough. It's 2021 and I haven't been allowed to leave my house for countless months, so at this point, a hole is the goal.

I have a shit memory, actually. But I have an interest in game design (among other nerdy fields of interest) and a curiosity for detail, so I have notes scattered in various files of stuff I thought to test throughout the past 2 decades, and that curiosity and knowledge obviously added up over time.
