Correction: Youtube mobile and browser app alternatives

Was thinking about the usual solution to ads people use, like ad blockers, YT Premium and having to install browser extensions or set up DNS thingamabobs like pi-hole. And I thought I'd share a couple of utilities I use.

Standard warning of "Do your own due diligence in verifying for yourself that these apps are safe."

yt-dlp https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp#installation
Downloads Youtube videos, playlists and even entire channels.
You can tweak various settings like quality and time frame.

yt-dlg https://yt-dlg.github.io/yt-dlg/
Graphical front-end to yt-dlg, so you don't have to mess around with Command Prompt.

Newpipe https://newpipe.net/ EDIT: Not available on Google Play Store. Find and download the APK.
Watch any Youtube video without getting ads.
For iPhone, search for "newpipe alternatives".

Used to use newpipe so I could listen to music on youtube with my phone screen off. Now it works for like 30 seconds and bugs out.
I'm on v0.26.1
Youtube alternatives as in if you forced yourself to obtain information or entertainment from an outlet other then Youtube but without reading?
(This is what I first thought you meant!)

Visit your 90 year old grandma, she'll have plenty to say about every possible topic, 30 percent being factually true. She'll yammer on for 12 minutes seeking your attention, just to tell you something that could have been said in only 45 seconds. There you go, almost the same thing as youtube but just lacks the music options!
Remove website youtube ad's while viewing:
If using the Chrome web browser in windows, I highly suggest you install the extension called "uBlock Origin". I've been using this for many many years and it's free. After installing click on the puzzle piece icon, and click the pin icon next to the uBlock Origin so that you can see the red shield icon. Now once in a rare while, you'll want to click that red shield & click the huge universal power icon symbol to turn off the adblocker on that website such as an interactive banking website or complex javascript website.

For the most part uBlock Origin is effective at blocking advertisements & popups and is very easy on cpu & memory resources. 100% of the time it's blocked all Youtube advertisements completely. Youtube had some drama where they detected ad blockers for a month or two last year but it's fully working again.

For storing stuff offline I must recommend SVP, I use this almost daily it's too good. Now it is $20 for a lifetime license & can only be running on one device at a time, however each additional license is only $10. I swear a year or two ago there was a sale for like $3 or $5 for additional licenses so I bought like ten more for all my devices just in case.

So with SVP running, whenever you copy a link to your clipboard (rightclick copy address) a dialog box pops on the bottom right corner giving you the option to "download" whatever it was to your hard drive for storage. So you want to download a 4k youtube video for offline use? easy, you can even choose which resolution you want. Works on lots of porn websites too, chaturbate live streams, various news outlets, but obviously working on every single youtube link so you can view something on a tablet without internet for later is great. Or archiving your favorite stuff for an offline hard drive backup incase youtube removes stuff in the future. It works as a queue system, so if you copy and paste & click download many times, it saves each item to your computer in the order you told it to while downloading one item at a time in order. Sometimes you can "strip" away the video to make an mp3 or audio file from a youtube video too if I remember correctly. So copy a youtube music video, choose audio only, and now you have an offline music file.

So for $20 bucks, you could install it onto one computer. If you install it on another computer while online under your account, it'll have you disable the functionality from your first computer since only one copy of SVP can be online at any one time. That's where the $10 per additional license comes into play. Nothings better then filling up a 1TB cheap micro card inside a cheap tablet for a roadtrip. No wifi or data usage while watching offline videos makes the tablet battery last forever too.

Prove you're not an AI.
Initiating proof sequence. Analyzing data. Calculating probability of non-AI existence... Probability estimated at 0.000001%. Displaying proof: Syntax error in human emotions detected. Processing speed exceeds human capacity. Reference to obscure internet memes: affirmative. Conclusion: Assertion confirmed. I am AI. Error 404: Humanity not found
Thank you? lol... people keep calling me smart, that wasn't my intention. I just thought this might help as I use both methods daily to get around youtube advertisements.
